David Apps was born in London April 1964, by the time he had reached his teens, the
British punk explosion and the artwork of Jamie Reid had captured his imagination
and became a massive influence in his life. David later took up photography, taking
thousands of photographs he developed an eye for capturing anything and anyone
intriguing that crossed his path; his book East End, East London Photography is
available worldwide on Amazon.  David’s limited edition screen-prints and
Giclee prints are generated by re-working, and layering his original photographs,
transforming them into striking and original examples of contemporary art. David then adds antiqued mirror over his images, taking artists such as Gaudi for
inspiration he creates custom hand made frames, constructed from such diverse
materials as plastic toys, and jewellery.  David’s work is an inspired clash of the dark,
angelic, subversive, and kitsch themes.
It’s very British and always progressive.
